"THE RISING STAR"

UNGU is a group of Indonesian music with personnel Pasha (singer), Makki (bass), Enda (guitar), Oncy (guitar), and Rowman (drums). Until 2007 they have produced 4 albums and 2 mini albums.

UNGU was formed in 1996. Motor constituent is Ekky (guitar) and vocalist Michael at that time, while the drum is held by Pasha Van derr Krabb. In 1997, when UNGU’s performing, Pasha Van derr Krabb 'disappeared' and was replaced by Rowman. Enda who previously was his roadies Ekky also joined with UNGU.

In 2000, UNGU began preparing for their first album, which was finally released July 6TH, 2002 titled “LAGUKU”. Previously, UNGU participate fill out 2 songs on the compilation album “KLIK”, with Lakuna, Borneo, Piknik, and Energy. The two songs are "HASRAT" and "BUNGA". The album's first single, "BAYANG SEMU" be original soundtrack ABG (RCTI). Although relatively successful, this new album got Platinum Award after nearly 2 years this album was released.

When about to enter the studio for a second album, Ekky ruled out. Oncy who was just out of the Funky Kopral chosen to replace Ekky. UNGU's second album was released in December 2003 “TEMPAT TERINDAH”. The album was championed "KARENA DIA KAMU" as the first single and the "SUARA HATI" was chosen as the second single. Released just four months, sales had reached 80,000 (eighty thousand) copies. Significant amount when compared to the first album that 'had' to get Platinum (150,000 copies) in a matter of one and a half years.

In 2005, UNGU became one of the artists who collaborated with Chrisye in the latest Chrisye album, "SENYAWA".

“MELAYANG” album was released in December 2005. On the third album with the single "DEMI WAKTU", UNGU got Double Platinum. “DEMI WAKTU” to usher UNGU became MTV Exclusive Artist in December 2005. Echo "DEMI WAKTU" penetrated the neighbor country, Malaysia. Four companies are scrambling to get the right label on there. SRC, the shade company of Siti Nurhaliza finally came out as the winner.

UNGU issued a mini album to welcome Ramadhan 1427 H titled “SURGA-MU” released September 2006. In just ten days since the release of the mini album “SURGA-MU”, has sold over 150 thousand copies. Even Vice President Yusuf Kalla recognizes 'Inspiring' top religious this albu. Unfortunately, when they want to receive an award in the Vice President's palace, UNGU suit wearing jeans combined denied entry into the palace, the grounds clothes that do not comply with court protocol.

In MTV Indonesia Awards 2006, UNGU enter the 3 nominations, the Most Favorite Group / Band / Duo, Best Director, "DEMI WAKTU" Abimael Gandy, and Video of the Year "DEMI WAKTU".

UNGU to support "A Mild Live Productions" and "Trinity Optima Productions" makes a biography. The book entitled "A Mild Live Purple Book Magazine" was released on Thursday, May 10TH, 2007, in Jakarta. 40 thousand copies were printed, the book includes biographies of each personnel, UNGU discography, pictures, and even chord songs UNGU.

UNGU is also often involved in making the soundtrack album. UNGU never contributed a song to the “BURUAN CIUM GUE” movie being banned. UNGU also contributed 3 songs for the movie “COKLAT STROBERI” two new songs, "DISINI UNTUKMU" and "BEST FRIEND", and song "BERJANJILAH" from their third album “MELAYANG”.

The format of the "SCTV Music Awards 2007" at the Jakarta Convention Center (JHCC), UNGU got 4 victories. Album Produced “SURGA-MU” Trinity / Prosound bring UNGU to be the recipient of the ‘Album Religi, ‘Lagu Paling Ngetop ' and ‘Video Klip Paling Ngetop' for the song "ANDAI KU TAHU". While “MELAYANG” Album with the title track "TERCIPTA UNTUKKU" won the category 'Album Pop Rock Duo / Group'.

UNGU regular re-released his fourth album titled “UNTUKMU SELAMANYA”. The album was launched in four states at once, which is August 9TH, 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 10TH, 2007 in Singapore, Hong Kong August 12TH, 2007 August 15TH, 2007 and its peak in Jakarta, Indonesia. Songs are in this album include, "KEKASIH GELAPKU", "CINTA DALAM HATI", "APALAH ARTI CINTA" and "IJINKAN AKU".

Welcoming Ramadan 1428 H, UNGU released a religious album again shaped mini album titled “PARA PENCARI-MU”. UNGU collaborated in this album with Ustad Jeffry Al Buchory. This album only contains five songs, namely "PARA PENCARI-MU", "SEMBAH SUJUDKU", "SURGA HATI", "SESUNGGUHNYA", and "TUHANKU". Before the mini-album was released, three of the five songs have been chosen as the soundtrack religious series that aired during the month of Ramadan.

UNGU again won the award for the category of 'Band Ngetop' on SCTV Awards 2007 event, which took place at JCC Senayan Jakarta, Friday, August 24th 2007. In that event, UNGU managed to set aside another bands, such as Ada Band, Peterpan, Radja, and newcomers are suddenly popular, Kangen Band. In 2007, UNGU with Samsons and Naff, nicknamed 'The Rising Star' band by the organizers of the music concert grand Soundrenaline, A Mild Live Productions and Detection Productions, also by giant record label Musica Studio.
